ABSTRACT
Since the early Seventies, a particular attention has been paid on the conservation of the colour of architecture and, at the same time, a renewed interest for the historical centres has grown. The colour of historical façades, as well as the traditional plasters which support it, is nowadays considered as a material full of historic and cultural significance. From a theoretical-scientific point of view, these topics are well known and commonly accepted. On the other hand, they are not always completely assimilated if the operative point of view is considered, especially by the professionals people involved into “Colour plans”.
The problems faced by the “Colour plans” are indeed very complex and commonly require a multi-disciplinary strategy. As a matter of fact, a single discipline cannot solve all the questions arising from the study of the historical centre, and architects, urban planners, chemists, engineers, economists, territorial associations, public and private institution and specialist companies are asked to work as a team.
This paper defines a general management strategy aimed to reduce the overall intervention duration and costs, so that a sustainable conservation planning can be achieved. In such way, the funds raising phase is a major issue that has to be properly considered. The widest and more spontaneous participation of all the “actors” involved is also a highly desirable result to be achieved in the “Colour plan” realization.
