This report is a summary of studies conducted on the baroque fountain, called “Fontana dell’Isola”, in the Boboli Gardens in Florence.
This monumental complex – rich of statues, waterworks (now inactive) and allegorical meanings – is actually heavily degraded in all of its components (sculptures, pavement, balustrades, hydraulic system, iron banisters), especially due for its naturally humid location, always in presence of vegetation and water.
In this essay, particular attention goes to the sculptures – which might be object of interventions (some are already in restoration) – and their conservation problems and future maintenance. In this regard a relative filing of all the elements was made and is proposed a general guideline for a scheduled maintenance.
Sculture esposte all’esterno, conservazione, manutenzione.
